2月22日，伦敦Quercus出版社出版《射雕英雄传》第一个英译本《Legends of theHeroes》之第一部《A Hero Born》，广告词是“The Chinese Lord of the Rings”。
这是国外第一次出版金庸译著（此前正式出书的三本金庸小说英译本都是香港出版的，附在帖尾）。
封面为啥搞半拉翅膀？怪不拉几的，远不如来头凶恶的大雕神气啊。
来自爱丁堡的译者Anna Holmwood，中文名为郝玉青，父亲英国人，母亲瑞典人。郝玉青在牛津大学读历史本科时，于2005年暑假参加游学中国项目，从此爱上中国，开始学中文。硕士攻读牛津现代中国研究专业，又到北大和台湾师范大学进修中文，之后还在伦敦大学亚非学院再读了个中国文学硕士学位。毕业后做翻译和中国文化引介工作。在台北时，郝玉青和朋友在敦化南路诚品书店看到一书架的金庸小说，便买了本中文版的《鹿鼎记》。初读颇感纠结，随后渐入佳境。2012年，郝玉青花了几星期试译《射雕英雄传》，推荐给出版社编辑。编辑十分喜欢，并且惊喜地发现此书尚未有英译本。于是和郝玉青签下了英文版权，计划分多部出版（英国《卫报》说12部；中文媒体说4部），一年一部。继今年的《A Hero Born》之后，第二卷《A Bond Undone》将于明年1月出版。
郝玉青在采访中说，通常人们认为最难翻译的武功招数名称，其实并非关键所在；更重要的是译文“能否让英语读者被书中的人物和感情吸引，被超凡脱俗的武打震撼，为扣人心弦的阴谋诡计叫绝”（“It’s all about whether the English reader will bedrawn into the emotions and the characters, that he or she will be amazedby the prowess of the fighting or caught up in the political intrigues.”）。

But Guo Jing could not stand to see the boy head into such a cold nightwearing such scant clothing. He placed his black sable coat on the boy’s shoulders. “Brother, I feel as if I’ve known you my whole life. Take this against the wind.”
He slipped two ingots of gold into one of the pockets, leaving himself two more for his journey. The boy left without even saying thank you, and began to trudge against the weather, before turning around for one last look.
Guo Jing was standing beside his bridled horse, watching him. The young man waved and Guo Jing ran over to him. “Does my brother need anything?”
“I didn’t ask you your name,” he said and smiled. “Yes, we forgot. Myfamily name is Guo, my given name Jing,meaning Serenity. And you?” “My family name is Huang, my given name Rong, meaning Lotus.”
各位感觉如何？我看到“brother”、“my family name”、“my given name”这些词就出戏了，太拘泥或正式死板。实在不很看好这个译本。
