10月25日，荷兰阿姆斯特丹国际纪录片节（IDFA) 揭晓2018年入围的纪录片，分属长片竞赛单元、新人竞赛单元、短片竞赛单元等19个单元，7位中国导演的作品入选竞赛单元和展映单元。
分别是：周铭影的《世外桃源》，张杨的《火山》，岳廷的《红毛皇帝》，王兵的《死灵魂》，王小帅的《我的镜头》，朱日坤的《安妮》，雎安奇《大字》。2018年11月14日，IDFA将在阿姆斯特丹开幕。

在重庆的一栋摩天大楼上有一家独特的餐厅。大圆桌的晚餐结合以古老传统和当代爱国主义为灵感的舞蹈和武术精彩表演。在幕后，该公司的创始人，专制的领导者，一个看起来很无聊的烟民，将严格的集体主义强加于他的员工身上，个人意见被禁止，而像他一样的思考和行为才是规范的。自我批评是一种频繁进行的仪式。
导演拍摄该公司几个月的生活，展现了员工接受这种规训的情况。片名从陶渊明关于乌托邦社会的古老寓言中借用而来。这家餐馆是类似的实验吗？但是当领导的演讲变得激烈，愤怒，冗长，他的团队开始出现信任的裂痕，疲惫的工作和卑微的薪水并不足以解释现代奇观……

许多年前，艺术家沉见华从上海搬到一个偏远的山村居住。他在当地开设的绘画课对本地人产生了深远影响。他的房子向绘画学习者开放。其中一个徒弟受他的影响，开始考虑要不要跟他的妻子搬到城市里去。
于此同时，老妇人们用绘画表现村里的一切：新年聚会，新生的猫儿以及一个宴会。导演张杨记录下他们的相遇，有趣的谈话，以及他们平静的生活。温暖的篝火、断裂玉米棒、炖鱼汤的声音……影片展示山里桃花源式的生活。

一场走遍中国的个人旅行仪式，一次流动影像与静止图像的交融实验革命，一个用王小帅之眼去见证家族迁移与社会变迁的纪录作品。
从天安门开始，记录在北京生活的人如何在红绿变化的股票市场里自处，描画狭小的格子间里安静的年轻人、轰隆隆的工厂里静止不动的工人，观照他们在结束漫长的工作后如何穿过京城沧桑的街道，还会重新展现已经荒废的《十七岁的单车》拍摄地，记录围坐在饭桌前的一家人，然后坐着火车出发，用个人的足迹去到父亲的家乡青岛、故乡贵阳、武汉，同时将镜头对准消失的自然村和仓促而起的新农村，礼拜的清真教徒，荒废的工厂，盲目兴起的鬼城。
王小帅始终在诘问：“他们是谁？”“他们从哪里来？”“他们要到哪里去？”“这是哪里？”“和我有什么样的关系？”“这里是我父亲的老家吗？”“这里是我母亲的老家吗？”“这里是中国吗？”“这里是现在的中国？过去的中国？还是未来的中国？”“我认识他吗？”“我是谁？”这些问题可能找不到一个答桉，但带着这些疑虑，王小帅带着他熟悉的摄影机一路走一路拍，变换一种方式用镜头与观众相对，这一次，他不讲故事，只是要完成这一场“我”与“中国”的对话。

安妮是一个10岁的中国小姑娘。2013年，她转学到中国合肥市的一个小学不久，被警察从学校带走，不允许她继续在这个学校上学。因为她的父亲是一个被政府监控的异议人士。政府借控制安妮的上学来禁止他的父亲迁移。
得到消息的各地人士陆续聚集学校门口的小广场上声援安妮，要求学校给她复学。有人在广场上的乒乓球台上给安妮上课。一些律师发起了绝食抗议。一些行动者和访民也赶来表达他们政治及个人权益方面的诉求。抗议者之间也常因意见不同而争议。放学的儿童和父母带着怀疑的眼光从旁经过。周围的居民对这个事情各有高见。清洁人员抱怨抗议者的标语影响了环境，保安一边安抚保洁人员一边要求抗议者配合管理。安妮带着她心爱的滑板一个人在广场上练习。校园的国歌声响起。我拿起摄影机到围栏外，里面优秀学生在操场上讲演。校长过来，他用他的方式说明了他的是非观，并指出了一个替罪羊。每一个人的话似乎都有真实和虚构，每个人的逻辑和现实都在对峙。你只能从中去判断或者猜想。每天夜晚，抗议者离开之后，广场被另外一群人占据，昏暗的灯光下是广场舞的舞台。

从谷歌地图中位于新疆东部一处无人区的距离地面 10 公里的空中，可以俯瞰到有 30 个巨大的中国字和 1 个感叹号盘桓在荒凉的戈壁上，每个字有一个足球场那么大。这些大字是一些文革的口号，由碎石堆砌而成，在 1968 年这里修建了一个秘密的军用机场，这些大字就是这个机场的航标。摄影机在这些大字中穿行，在碎石堆积而成的乌托邦的幻觉里浮现出 1968 年世界各地的革命浪潮，一些浪潮在开始，一些浪潮被熄灭……
