蔡英文决定竞选连任

蔡英文在接受访问中，独家披露“决定参选连任2020年总统大选，尽管她近来的人气不高，且面临北京严峻的敌意。

蔡英文在当地时间2月18日接受CNN的独家专访，表示想要完成“完成改革，理所当然，每一位领袖都期望能够完成她当初擘画的执政目标”（It''s natural that any sitting president wants to do more for the country and wants to finish things on his or her agenda）。

CNN分析，尽管蔡英文在2018选举大败的情况下，面临党内大老的“逼宫压力”，希望她仅选一任即可，不要继续追求连任，但是蔡英文的意志显然坚定，不为这些党内压力所迫。蔡英文在最后，也谈到了对于来自中国大陆国家主席习近平给予的紧迫压力，她觉得她已经有了完善的准备。
