By Wu Po-hsuan and Hollie Younger / Staff reporter, with staff writerA demographic study showed that 28.9 percent of Taiwanese who have never been married have also never been in a romantic relationship, and up to 69.68 percent are not currently in a relationship.請繼續往下閱讀...The 2024 Panel Study of Family Dynamics, led by Academia Sinica research fellow Yu Ruoh-rong (于若蓉) and funded by the National Science and Technology Council, is the latest wave of a long-running study that began in 1999 and has gathered data over three generations as part of the wider Taiwan Empirical Survey Data.To mark the Qixi Festival yesterday, also known as Lovers’ Day, the Taiwan Empirical Survey Data posted on Facebook an analysis of results from the 2024 survey about dating habits among 1,712 Taiwanese who have never been married.Of those surveyed, 30.32 percent were in relationships, 40.78 percent were single after having been in a relationship before, and 28.9 percent had always been single.Of men surveyed, 28.26 percent said they had been single their whole life, while the rate was 30.11 percent for women, showing little relative gender difference, the survey found.Compared across different age groups, 30.1 percent of respondents aged 27 to 31 had never been in a relationship, compared with 27.8 percent of those aged 32 to 36, 27.7 percent of those aged 37 to 41, 29.2 percent of people aged 42 to 46, 30.8 percent of 47 to 51-year-olds and 28.6 percent of those 52 or older.The survey data showed that 44.3 percent of 27 to 31-year-olds who have never married said they were in a relationship, compared with just 8.9 percent of people 52 and older, with the percentage of people in a relationship decreasing steadily throughout the age groups.新聞來源:TAIPEI TIMES
