　　尼泊尔与西藏边境地区8月26日发生洪灾和泥石流，造成两国合共近800人死亡、逾3,000人失踪。据尼泊尔一所中学校长表示，事发前接获多通电话，显示洪灾可能即将逼近校区，他当机立断疏散学生，成功挽救全校逾1,600名学生的生命。

　　综合英国广播公司（BBC）及《泰晤士报》报道，尼泊尔努瓦阔特地区（Nuwakot）的中学Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School校长Rajendra Dawadi表示，他在短短几分钟内接获4名不同人士警告，其中一通回报说上游的村落贝特拉瓦提（Betrawati）已遭洪水淹没。

　　47岁的Rajendra Dawadi向BBC表示，他即时做出决定，疏散该校所有学生，「我认为不能再拖了。即使洪水没来，只是损失一天的教学而已」。他及时致电所有正驶往学校的校车司机，要求每辆约载有80名学生的校车掉头，同时下令在校教师及约900名学生撤离。

　　当Rajendra Dawadi率学生撤离至高处时，目睹距离河边约100米远的学校宿舍，已被洪水淹浸。他说：「若我们晚10分钟做出撤离决定，包括学生或我在内的所有人，今天恐怕无法站在这里和各位说话。」
