By Wu Liang-yi and Jonathan Chin / Staff reporter, with staff writerTaiwan High Speed Rail Corp （THSRC） yesterday received a N700ST high-speed train from Japan, the first in a set of 12 ordered by the state-supported corporation.請繼續往下閱讀...The train arrived at the Port of Kaohsiung to fanfare, with THSRC chairman Shih Che （史哲） co-hosting an event celebrating its arrival at the port alongside senior government officials.Shih confirmed that THSRC is considering raising train fares for the first time in 20 years on July 1 next year, when the N700ST is anticipated to enter into service.The price increase would facilitate the planned safety, ride comfort and service quality upgrades under the Taiwan High-Speed Rail 2.0 plan, he said.Minister of Transportation and Communications Chen Shih-kai （陳世凱） said price adjustments depend on the new bullet trains’ reception by the public, and that he hopes THSRC would continue its tradition of excellent service.The new train was originally scheduled to embark and get under way on Aug. 6, but Typhoon Dolphin and Tropical Storm Chan-hom delayed the departure by five days, THSRC said.The rolling stock is being unloaded for the next two days and then transported overland to the Yenchao Main Workshop over three more days, it said.THSRC expects to complete assembly and static testing by November, it said.The dynamic test, which consists of 68 sub-trials for drive systems, brakes and onboard amenities, is to be completed by April next year, it said.The other 11 trains are on schedule to be delivered from this year through 2028, with all sets scheduled to enter service by September 2028, it said.The Kaohsiung City Government has changed its lighting to the THSRC color scheme at scenic locations throughout the municipality until this evening to honor the train’s arrival.新聞來源：TAIPEI TIMES
